The Deep River Elementary School (DRES) PTO held a donor appreciation event on May 14. At this event, the PTO thanked the 90 businesses that have supported the PTO with generous donations for its fundraisers and events such as Bingo Night, Staff Appreciation Day, and raffles for Box Tops collections and PTO meetings. Of the businesses and individuals honored at this event, many were local, including:

Deep River: Alicia Melluzzo, Ashleigh’s Garden Anchor & Compass, Another Kid’s Closet, Celebrations, Chaos, Christine Barclay, Compass Rose, Consumer Auto Parts, Deep River Hardware, Deep River Pizza, Deep River Rent All, Dough on Main, Great Wall Chinese Restaurant, Hally Jo’s Corner Restaurant, Main Street Sweet Shoppe, Pizzeria Da Vinci, RiverFire Glass, Salon 154, Scotts’ Connecticut Valley Orchard, Shore Discount Liquors, Squared Circle Studio, The Barber Shop, The Pet’s Choice, Red House, and The Shoe Box

Essex: Blue Hound Cookery & Tap Room, Bushy Hill Nature Center, Calamari Recycling, Centerbrook Pizza, Essex Steam Train, Griswold Inn, Incarnation Center, Ivoryton Playhouse, Pedal Power, Snap Fitness, and Toys Ahoy

Chester: Camp Hazen, Chester’s Finders Marketplace-Vintage Under the Sea, Pattaconk 1850 Bar and Grille, and TrueForm Training Center

To show its appreciation, the PTO provided each business with a certificate decorated by 6th graders at DRES and a glass star ornament donated by RiverFire Glass.

The PTO supports curriculum and enrichment activities at DRES including cultural arts programs, field trips, and field days. The latest activities supported by the PTO can be found on the DRES PTO Facebook page.
