Part-time Community News Reporter

The reporter will be responsible for covering civic news and features for inclusion in the East Haven Courier, North Haven Courier, and Zip06.com. The successful candidate for this detail- and deadline driven position will have experience in news writing, photography, and social media. Candidates must be able to occasionally report in-person to the Madison, CT office as well as meet sources in-person in both East Haven and North Haven. Sports Editor

Shore Publishing/Zip06.com is seeking a full-time editor to lead its sports department. The sports editor will coordinate coverage across 13 towns for seven weekly newspapers and a regional website, working with a directly-managed staff of beat writers to produce stand-out content. Reporting directly to the Managing Editor, the successful candidate will work closely with freelancers, newsroom support staff, photographers, and the production department. The sports editor should have sports-related editorial experience and exhibit a proven track record of writing and editing local sports content, coaching journalists of all experience levels, and working to deadline. Strong organizational and excellent communication skills are required, and the ideal candidate will have experience working in a Content Management System with an eye to digital-first publication.


  • Assign and edit all sports coverage, ensuring consistent, accurate, and equal coverage across all publications while delivering high quality under deadline.
  • Provide sports writer support coverage, writing wrap-ups, briefs, and related content as needed.
  • Formulate photographic assignments, working with the Chief of Photography to ensure adequate photographic coverage for sporting events.
  • Prepare all content, both submitted and staff-written, for layout, assigning items to appropriate pages using a Content Management System.
  • Work with the Production Director and Managing Editor to ensure availability of appropriate and necessary editorial space for seven print publications.


  • A minimum of two years’ experience in related sports media (newspaper and editing experience a plus)
  • Demonstrated writing, editing, proofreading, grammar, and spelling skills with knowledge of AP style.
  • Strong sense of news/story judgement.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail, able to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Content management system experience preferred.

The reporter will be responsible for covering a wide range of sports news and features for our print and online publications. Multimedia Sales Executive

As a Multimedia Sales Executive, you will be responsible for prospecting, qualifying, selling, and closing new clients to increase revenue within the already established territory. You will leverage our extensive portfolio of both print and digital services and audience insights to create and recommend personalized multimedia marketing campaigns for our business customers, connecting them to prime prospects and maximizing their ROI.
Key Responsibilities: Work as a partner to help clients reach their goals, owning the entire sales process from start to finish. Develop and demonstrate knowledge of The Days sales and marketing portfolio, including newspaper products, digital marketing services and non-traditional offerings (events, promotions, etc.) Effectively create and recommend products and services that meet the customers needs, based off a Client Needs Analysis Provide exceptional customer service, maintaining the highest levels of personal and professional behavior in the market and in the workplace. Consistently meet and exceed print and digital revenue targets. Regular communication with management and completion of all required sales process activities. Embrace new products or programs as the company continues to diversify and test new revenue streams.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of competitive media landscape; use for new business development and sales analysis. Ability to prospect new business via cold calling and other prospecting techniques including social media where applicable. Highly motivated, self-starting individual with initiative and drive to succeed. Successful track record of pushing past rejection and achieving results. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build and deliver effective presentations. Strong networking and community involvement skills Eagerness to learn, continually seeking to improve sales skills. Strong time management and follow up skills. Organized with attention for detail. Computer and software experience with MS Office programs including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word Must possess a valid state drivers license and reliable transportation.
Education Experience: Minimum of one-year sales experience, preferably in outside sales. Prior experience in digital marketing sales highly desirable
This position includes a base salary plus commissions based on revenue generated towards your targeted goals.
