H-K Girls’ Volleyball Loses in Shoreline Semis; Field Hockey Completes Season
Girls’ Volleyball
The Haddam-Killingworth girls’ volleyball squad defeated East Hampton in the Shoreline Conference quarterfinals before losing to Hale-Ray in the semifinal round last week. H-K, which has an overall record of 12-10, is competing in the Class M State Tournament this week.
H-K hosted East Hampton in the quarterfinals of the Shoreline Conference Tournament and edged out the Bellringers by a 3-2 score on Nov. 4. Two days later, the Cougars took a 3-2 loss at Hale-Ray in a semifinal matchup.
Haddam-Killingworth entered the Class M State Tournament as the No. 15 seed and hosted No. 18 Career in a first-round contest on Nov. 11 (after press time). If the Cougars win, they will play at No. 2 Prince Tech in the second round on Nov. 13 (after press time). The quarterfinals are on Friday, Nov. 15; the semis are on Tuesday, Nov. 19; and the Class M final takes place at East Haven High School at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23.
Field Hockey
H-K completed its season by playing a pair of road games last week.
On Nov. 4, the Cougars lost a 6-0 decision at Canton in a non-conference matchup. Two days later, H-K was on the road to face non-conference opponent Wamogo and took a 2-0 defeat to the Warriors. H-K finished with a record of 0-15-1 on the year.
Football
H-K was on the bye week last week. The Cougars (1-6) will be back in action when they travel to Stafford High School to face Stafford-East Windsor-Somers (5-2) at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15.
