Shoreline Gymnastics Competes in Turkey Tumble
Shoreline Gymnastics of Old Saybrook competed at the Turkey Tumble in Southbury on Nov. 9 and 10.
Xcel bronze, silver, and gold teams were represented. The Xcel bronze team included Morrigan Carrol (Portland). Morrigan had a strong overall individual performance and placed fourth to sixth on multiple events.
The Xcel silver team included Hope Fermia (Old Lyme), Chloe Folts (Essex), Ella Page (East Lyme), Rachael Reed (Old Saybrook), Catherine Saucier (Waterford), Abby Walton (Madison), and Hannah Wisner (Old Lyme). Strong individual performances on vault included Saucier (first) and Reed (third); on bars Page (first), Reed (second), Femia (third), and Folts (tied for third); on beam Reed (third); on floor Saucier (second); Page (tied for second); and Wisner (third); and all-around Saucier (second); Page (third); and Reed (third). The Xcel silver team placed third as a team.
The Xcel gold team included Sarah Cartelli (Ivoryton), Sierra Cazassa (East Haddam), Saige Deveau (East Lyme), Grace McLaughlin (Old Saybrook), Cassandra Morrison (East Lyme), and Tammi Welge (Old Saybrook). Strong individual performances on vault included McLaughlin (first); Cazassa (tied for first); Morrison (second); Welge (second); and Deveau (third); on bars Morrison (second) and Cazassa (tied for second); on beam Morrison (first) and Cartelli (second); on floor Cazassa (second) and Cartelli (third); and all-around Morrison (first); Cartelli (second); and Cazassa (second). The Xcel gold team placed first as a team. Levels 3, 4, 7, 8 and 9 were represented. The Level 3 team included Eva Alquist (Madison), Sydney Goulding (Old Lyme), Abigail Maynard (Waterford), Emily Smith (Clinton), Natalie Tanner (Madison), and Mia Thomas (Madison). Strong individual performances for Level 3 on vault included Maynard (first); Thomas (first); Tanner (tied for first); Alquist (second); Goulding (third); and Smith (tied for third); on bars Goulding (second); Tanner (second); and Smith (tied for third); on beam Smith (tied for first); Goulding (tied for second); Maynard (tied for second); and Alquist (third); on floor Alquist (first); Maynard (second); Tanner (third); Thomas (third); and Smith (third); and all-around Alquist (tied for first); Thomas (tied for first); Maynard (second); Smith (second); Tanner (third); and Goulding (tied for third). The Level 3 team placed second as a team.

Strong individual performances for Level 4 on vault included Cravinho (first); Rowe (tied for first); and Shaughnessy (tied for second); on bars Shaughnessy (first); SanMarco (second) and Rowe (third); on beam Shaughnessy (tied for second); SanMarco (third); and Fraser (tied for third); on floor Gernhardt (third); Fraser (tied for third); Cravinho (tied for third); and Kapij (tied for third); and all-around SanMarco (second) and Shaughnessy (third). The Level 4 team also took second place for the Team Award.
The Level 7 team included Alex Bishop (Old Saybrook), Elizabeth Cravinho (Old Lyme), Lindsey Jones (Groton), Emma Katko (Essex), Erin Naclerio (Madison), Kate Ryan (East Haddam), and Haley Smith (Clinton). Strong individual performances for Level 7 on vault included Cravinho (first); Naclerio (second); and Jones (second); on bars Naclerio (first); on beam Cravinho (third); on floor Katko (first); Jones (tied for second); Cravinho (tied for third); and Ryan (tied for third); and all-around Naclerio (second); Cravinho (third); and Jones (third). The Level 7 team also took first place for the Team Award.
The Level 8 team included Katie Seegert (Old Saybrook) and Morgan Staehle (Oakdale). Seegert had strong performances on all events including placing first on bars, beam, floor, and all-around, and third on vault. Staehle had a strong individual performance on beam and placed second. The Level 9 team was represented by Samantha Lemire (Moodus). Lemire had strong performances on all events including placing first on vault, bars, and all-around, and second on beam and floor.
