Meet Author Cindi Pietrzyk April 24 in Killingworth
Off the Beaten Path Connecticut: A Guide to Unique Places features the things travelers and locals want to see and experience-if only they knew about them. From the best in local dining to quirky cultural tidbits to hidden attractions, unique finds, and unusual locales, this series takes the reader down the road less-traveled and reveals a side of Connecticut that other guidebooks just don't offer.
Join Off the Beaten Path Connecticut author Cindi Pietrzyk at the Killingworth Library at 301 Route 81 on Thursday, April 24 at 7 p.m. as she talks about her book. Pietrzyk will present a slide show that highlights a few stops in each section of the book, offering some little-known facts and some stories about her travels. At the end of her presentation, she will take questions or suggestions of new places to add to the book. Books will be available for sale and signing.
Pietrzyk is a freelance writer and editor who is the author of numerous New England travel books. She also serves as an editor for Connecticut Forest & Park's Connecticut Walk Book: East. When she is not writing, she works as a freelance proofreader and editor. She graduated from UConn with a degree in English and then went on to almost complete her master's degree in liberal arts at Wesleyan University. Having completed everything but her thesis when her first daughter was born, Pietrzyk never found the time to write that last paper and chose, instead, to focus on her family, moving them all back to Durham, where she grew up on the family farm. Today, she and her husband live on a remaining piece of that same farm, where they continue to raise their children, two dogs, and three cats.
Pietrzyk is a self-proclaimed "small-town girl" who has a terrible sense of direction, doesn't like to drive on anything but small-town back roads, and would rather be riding a horse anyway. She loves exploring, though, and is always on the lookout for out-of-the-way treasures. She especially loves all things historic and often gets sucked in for hours at a time researching the history of some person, place, or thing. She is currently at work on her next book-fiction, this time-which she hopes to publish in the near future.
This program is free; register in advance by calling the Killingworth Library at 860-663-2000 or stopping by in person.
