Clinton Huskies Split Doubleheader with the Moose
The Clinton Huskies’ baseball team played a doubleheader against the Connecticut Moose in AAU summer league action on June 24. Head Coach Willie Fritz’s squad split the pair to move to 5-3 on the season.
In the first contest, the Huskies won a 1-0 pitcher’s duel behind Ray Seward’s five innings of shutout baseball. Drew Walton came on to close the game for Clinton and notch a save. Anthony Mongillo drove in the go-ahead run from third base for the Huskies with a well-struck grounder in the fourth inning.
Clinton dropped the nightcap by a 4-1 score. Russ Green pitched a solid game for the Huskies, allowing only one earned run through four innings of work. AJ Fritz came on in relief for Clinton and also gave up an unearned run.
