Huskies’ Boys’ Soccer Loses in Second Round of States; Football Routs Lewis Mills
Boys’ Soccer
The 6th-seeded Morgan boys’ soccer squad shut out No. 27 seed Whitney Tech by a 5-0 final in the first round of the Class S State Tournament on Nov. 8. Hosting No. 11 Cromwell in the second round on Nov. 10, the Huskies took a 1-0 loss to end the season at 14-6-1 overall.
Against Whitney Tech, Juan Avila recorded his first hat trick of the season for Morgan, which also received goals by James Saturno and Aeden Mahoney.
“It’s unfortunate. We fought and I thought we had more of the better chances, but it is a tribute to the battle we had all season. We never actually clicked even with the bit of success we did have. We played three games all season with all of our players and that was evident come the tournaments,” Head Coach Ross Demay said: “As we take this time to reflect, I know the passion that drives this team. It was a mentally fatiguing season to say the least. We will come back strong. I know they will be working in the offseason to come back and be a force coming into the season. The best thing coming out of the season is the experience of the struggle and the fact that all the players will be returning next year. I am proud of what they achieved this season.”
