Westbrook Boys’ Hoops Makes States; Girls Compete in Shorelines

The Westbrook boys’ basketball team played three games last week and picked up a win on the slate. With these results, the Knights moved their record to 8-11 and qualified for the Division V State Tournament.
On Feb. 18, the Knights grabbed their all-important eighth win of the season in a 50-46 road contest versus Whitney Tech. The next day, Westbrook dropped a 64-55 home game against Wilcox Tech.
On Feb. 21, the Knights lost a 64-39 home matchup with East Hampton.
Girls’ Basketball
Westbrook its regular season finale last week and then started play in the Shoreline Conference Tournament. The Knights lost both games and moved to an overall record of 6-15 on the season.
On Feb. 15, Westbrook lost a 61-23 road contest against East Hampton. The Bellringers came out strong to take a 17-9 lead in the first quarter and extend it to 39-13 by halftime. East Hampton continued to add on in the second half and Westbrook took the 61-23 defeat.
The next day, the Knights entered the Shoreline Conference Tournament as the No. 10 seed and faced off with No. 7 seed Valley Regional. Westbrook dropped a 57-28 road contest against the Warriors to end their Shoreline tourney journey.
Westbrook will play in the Class S State Tournament beginning on Monday, March 2.
