Mary A. Trapanese Yaccarino
Mary A. Trapanese Yaccarino, 94, of North Haven passed away peacefully on Jan. 31 at Yale New Haven Hospital with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of 58 years to the late Louis D. Yaccarino, Sr. Mary was born in Staten Island, New York, on Sept. 20, 1928, the daughter of the late Francesco “Frank” and Caroline Massa Trapanese.
Mary worked for American Express in New York City for many years until she started raising her family in Connecticut. She loved her time in New York and was a true city girl at heart. Mary enjoyed listening and dancing to Frank Sinatra and attending many other shows. Mary was completely devoted to her role as a stay-at-home mom for her four children and loved every minute of it. She enjoyed crocheting, bowling, and playing cards or bingo with family and friends.
Mary was an avid traveler, whether it be throughout the U.S. or internationally to Italy. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Frances Cabrini Church. Later in Mary’s life, she became very interested in politics, which was a passion she and her son David shared. Mary was always there to take care of her family and spend time with her children and grandchildren, who she loved unconditionally. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Mother of Louis D. (Tania) Yaccarino, Jr., Vincent (Liz) Yaccarino, David W. (Lorena) Yaccarino and Elaine (David) Ianniello. Also survived by 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her brothers Tony, David, Joseph, Robert, and Frank Trapanese, and her sister Anne de la Pena.
The visiting hours were on Feb. 7, at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Frances Cabrini Church, 57 Pond Hill Rd., North Haven.
