11/23/2019 11:00 PMThe Mary Clap Wooster Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR), based in New Haven, recently honored ten area high school students at an awards ceremony and reception. The event was attended by chapter members, students, families, school administrators and teachers. The DAR recognizes and rewards students who possess good citizenship qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism in their homes, schools and communities. Each high school student received a certificate, pin and a $500 scholarship check. Congratulations to these future leaders of America.
The NSDAR was founded in 1890 and is a volunteer women’s service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history and supporting better education for the nation’s children. Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, ethnic background, or political philosophy, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot who provided service or direct assistance of the American Revolution, is eligible for membership.
