Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation gives to the Valley Shore YMCA youth swim program

YMCA Executive Director Chris Pallatto (L) gratefully accepts a grant check from Nancy Bulkeley (R), Dominion Energy Senior Community Affairs Representative

The Valley Shore YMCA in Westbrook, CT is honored to receive a grant of $2,500 from Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation to support scholarships for their youth swim program.

“We are honored that Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation chose us as one of their grant recipients. Our youth swim program is a pillar of our mission to make all children safe around water and lead a healthy lifestyle. With the water that surrounds our community and growing waterfront lifeguard shortage in our state, formal swimming and water safety lessons are integral in the education of every Valley Shore child. We are so grateful that Dominion Energy is partnering with us in this effort!”

The Valley Shore Y’s Aquatics programs have instructed over 500 children in thousands of swim classes in 2018 alone, and aims to give every Valley Shore area child the necessary skills to be safe and have fun around water. Their research-based swim curriculum enables swimmers to advance more confidently and quickly through stages of progression, which focus on quality water safety education and swim instruction that promote swimming as a lifelong activity for healthy living and prevention of chronic disease.
