Talk or Don't Talk A Poem by Anne Greene

We sit in our homes – safe and warm--

We discuss the news but don’t see the coming storm.

We go about all our daily tasks—

We just don’t see the warning facts.

Look beyond the family walls—

Look toward the warning calls.

Look beyond the local imperfections—

Look toward the world’s insurrections.

Get involved with your party of choice—

Get involved and let them hear your voice.

Will it change your everyday life—

Of Course!

Will it change from simple to strife—

Of Course!

Step up and be part of what is happening—

Step up with those whose eyes are opening.

Freedom is a gift earned--

Freedom is a gift that should never be returned.

These are only words that I write—

These mean nothing if you don’t think I am right.

But then again it all can mean nothing—

But then again we really can do something.

How can we actually just stand by and be witness—

How can we actually make a real difference.

I have been asked many times what I am doing—

I have been asked and have answered -- pursuing.

Pursuing others to take their stand where it counts—

Pursing others to be reminded that together there is nothing we can’t surmount.

Do something and just don’t talk—

Do something or don’t talk.
