11/08/2017 11:00 PMLocal Dunkin'Donuts franchisees the D'Andrea Group are kicking off the season of giving with their fourth annual Turkey Donut Drive.
From Sunday, November 12 through Saturday, November 18 at any of twelve participating Dunkin' Donuts restaurants, guests can get a sweet treat and help a family in need: for every specialty "Turkey Donut" sold, the franchisees have pledged to donate 1 pound of turkey to the following organizations, with a goal of 7,500 pounds of turkey this year: Connecticut Food Bank, Boy Scout Troop 1 of Milford's "Thanks for Giving Food Drive," and Saint Paul's Church Food Pantry in West Haven.
Over the past three years, the D'Andrea Group has donated over 10,000 pounds of turkey (equaling nearly 1,000 holiday turkeys) to local families in need during the holiday season through their Turkey Donut Drive.
"Every year this fundraiser gets better and better," said Dunkin' Donuts franchisee Nicole Ball, of the D'Andrea Group. "Our guests and our valued employees look forward to this annual event and embrace the goodwill it brings to our restaurantsand to the community."
Connecticut Food Bank CEO Bernie Beaudreau noted that the food bank distributed more than 19,000 turkeys for people to celebrate Thanksgiving last year. "The simple act of buying one of these special donuts, or even a few to share in the office will help share the bounty of the season with families who need our help," said Beaudreau.
Added Ball, "Our guests are busy and always on-the-go, especially around the holidays. We've created a way for them to make a local donation while grabbing their daily coffee. The cute 'Turkey Donuts' are a win-win for our guests who get to enjoy a delicious donut, while also making a difference."
Specialty "Turkey Donuts" can be purchased atthe following Dunkin' Donuts locations, November 12-18, while supplies last. Guests are asked to give 24-hour notice for pre-orders by calling ahead or e-mailing Nicole Ball at Nicole@dandreagroupct.comand specifying the restaurant address for pick up.
