Guilford student qualifies as National Merit Semi-Finalist

Johanna Alstott, a 17-year-old Guilford resident and high school senior who attends Beacon Self-Directed Learning in New Haven, has qualified as a National Merit Semi-Finalist. According to the National Merit Corporation, this distinction, which is based on PSAT scores, is awarded to approximately 16,000 students nationwide, representing roughly the top one percent of test-takers. Of these, about 15,000 are expected to qualify as Finalists and will be eligible for National Merit Scholarships.
