Tiger Tracks

The inaugural Tiger Tracks buddy track program wrapped up on May 31, 2017. The program, conceived and initiated by Ashlinn Virgulto, a Junior at Daniel Hand High School, was held on three successive Wednesdays, May 17, 24 and 31. It was designed to provide students with special needs, and other novice youths, Grades K-8, with an opportunity to learn about, and compete in, track & field events. The first two sessions involved clinics with stations for sprinting, relay racing, long jump, turbo javelin, shot (softball) put and hurdles. The last session was a traditional meet, with all athletes competing in the aforementioned six events.

Over 50 volunteer "buddies", including D.H.H.S. students, Polson M.S. students, teachers, coaches and other community members, participated, coaching, teaching and cheering on the young athletes. The three sessions were held on beautiful warm days, and fun was had by all!
