Can We Talk? HIV and STDs: Knowledge and Prevention

Old Saybrook continues its popular Can We Talk series with this special installment featuring 2 separate talks - one on December 1st for parents and one on December 2nd for teens. Both talks take place at the Vicki Duffy Pavilion at Saybrook Point starting at 6:30 pm.

Through education and effective support, young people can adopt healthy and safe sexual behaviors that will provide lifelong protection from STDs. Join us for this month's talk with Dr. Nico Condulis from Wildwood Pediatrics and reproductive health educators from Planned Parenthood.

Both parents and teens will learn helpful information about risks, prevention, and treatment of HPV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Parents will gain skills to effectively communicate with their kids and prevent risky sexual behaviors. Teens will learn about peer pressure, assertiveness, and safety. Why talk about it? HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection, and is spread through all forms of intimate contact. HPV can cause genital warts and certain kinds of cancer.
