10/21/2015 12:00 AMCLINTON – A grand opening of the renovated and expanded Clinton Art Gallery will be Sunday, November 1 from 3 to 5 p.m. when wine and desserts will be served and artists and artisans will be on hand to show you around.
The non-profit, co-op gallery has doubled its space into the empty storefront next door and re-configured both spaces into one allowing for more art work and for the creations of a number of artisans.
The new gallery area occupies the front part of what was, several generations ago, the first Ford Dealership in Connecticut. Closed for many years, it is now a light-filled, delightful shopping experience.
The Gallery exhibits paintings and sculptures from realistic to abstract in a variety of mediums and as of this month, pottery, cards, hand-crafted jewelry, spirit dolls, woven scarves, hand-made boxes, stained glass and pillows plus decorated ornaments and much more.
There is now a classroom, named the Laurel Anne Olcott Art Center, offering poetry and writing classes, art classes, workshops and demonstrations.
A ribbon cutting ceremony with the Clinton Chamber of Commerce and Clinton Placemakers Inc, will be Friday, Oct. 30 at 12:30 p.m. All are invited to attend.
The gallery has also increased its hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday,11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
