Baseball, Girls’ Lacrosse Each Grab a Pair of Victories

Baseball

On April 12, Morgan baseball traveled to Old Lyme and won 6-1. Lucus Hoadley went the distance, throwing a complete game and striking out five batters. Dominic Larabee, Sean Green, and Ross Truebig each drove in runs for the Huskies.

The team then traveled to Old Saybrook on April 15 and earned a 5-3 victory. Nathan Levy got the start, going 4.2 innings, Trevor Powell got the win, and Jack Henry Palazzo earned the save. Wyatt Luke, Green, and Travis Aiken got the Huskies ahead by driving in runs.

Outdoor Track

On April 16, Morgan outdoor track hosted Cromwell and East Hampton. On the girls’ side, Addy Reed placed first in the 1600 meters and the 3200. AJ Luke placed first in the long jump and and in the 300 hurdles, and Julia White placed first in the 200 and third in the 100. Natalie Estabrook placed third in the 800, while Olivia Ruotolo placed second in the 100 hurdles. Gabriella Navarra placed third in the triple jump.

For the boys, Michael Fusco placed first in the 200 and second in the 100, setting the school record in the 100. Robby Estabrook placed first in the javelin and third in the discus.

Golf

The Morgan golf team hosted Daniel Hand and Haddam-Killingworth on April 15 and scored a 196 as a team to place third in the match. Robert Bergman scored a 46 on the course, and Jack Nye scored a 47. Patrick O’Neil scored a 50, Sean Davis scored a 53, and Luke McComiskey scored a 57.

On April 17, the team hosted Valley Regional and won 184-216. Nye scored a 42, McComiskey scored a 43, O’Neil scored a 48, Bergman scored a 51, and Davis scored a 53.

Girls’ Lacrosse

On April 16, the Morgan girls’ lacrosse team hosted Cromwell and won 14-4. Goal scorers included Maeve Madura (six), Emma Holecz (five), Nora Windsor (two goals, one assist), Emma Champagne (one goal, three assists), and Ashley Reemsnyder (one assist). Annabell Parent had two saves in net. Madura had nine draw controls, Windsor had two, and Holecz had one.

Two days later, the team played host to North Branford and fell 10-7. Madura scored four goals and had one assist, Champagne had two goals and one assist, and Holecz had one goal. Parent recorded seven saves in the contest. Cora Dunham had four draw controls, Windsor had two, and Emely Andino had one.

The Huskies closed out the week hosting Valley Regional on April 20 and they won 17-6. Holecz had four goals and one assist, Dunham had three goals, Ava Schmidt had two goals. Molly O'Donnell had one goal, Reemsnyder had oen goal, Gwen Madura had one goal, and Champagne recorded one assist. Parent recorded four saves in goal. Maeve Madura had five draw controls, Holecz had five, Dunham had three, O’Donnell had one, and Gwen Madura had one.
