Baseball Takes a Loss, Girls’ Tennis Wins Two

Girls’ Tennis

The Westbrook girls’ tennis team hosted North Branford on April 8 and recorded a 7-0 win. Earning singles victories were Megan Bache (6-0, 6-1), Ana Heringer (6-1, 6-0), Anna Landino (6-2, 6-0), and Emily Bonner (6-0, 6-0).

On the doubles side, Olivia Palumbo and Lotta Kuenning won 6-0, 6-0. Natalie Palumbo and Giovanna Silva recorded a 6-0, 6-0 victory, and Norah Hayden and Neave Hinckley won by default.

On April 9, the team traveled to Old Saybrook and earned another shutout win. Bache (6-2, 6-0), Heringer (6-0, 6-0), Landino (6-2, 6-4), and Bonner (default) all earned singles victories.

For doubles, Natalie Palumbo and Kuenning won 6-7(4-7),7-6 (7-2),6-2. Hayden and Silva won 6-0,6-1. Adrianna Spash and Hinckley earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory.

The Knights finished the week at Old Lyme on April 13 and fell 5-2. Bache earned a win at No. 1 singles (6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (7-5)). Natalie Palumbo and Silva won at No. 2 doubles (7-5, 6-4).

Baseball

Valley Regional/Westbrook baseball hosted Haddam-Killingworth on April 8 and lost 2-1. Kyle Leandri and Caleb Winkley each recorded two hits.
