Boys’ Ice Hockey Advances to State Final, All-Conference Athletes Announced

Boys’ Ice Hockey

The East Haven boys’ ice hockey co-op team played in the semifinals of the Division II State Tournament on March 12 vs. No. 3 Woodstock Academy and blanked the opponent 6-0. John D’Albero opened the scoring in the first period, with an assist from Robert Testa.

In the second period, the Yellowjackets went off for four goals. These were scored by Landon Cantele (assisted by Preston Cantele), Lorenzo Defilio (assisted by Preston Cantele), Defilio (shorthanded goal assisted by Landon Cantele), and D’Albero (shorthanded goal assisted by Landon Cantele).

Defilio scored again in the third frame, with Landon Cantele on the assist. Mike Fritz earned the shutout win in net, recording 19 saves.

D’Albero was named an All-Conference First Team forward for East Haven, and Preston Cantele was a First Team athlete for defense. Fritz earned the honor as a goaltender. Defilio was named to the All-Conference Second Team as a forward.

Cheerleading

Kolbey Nastri was recognized for her successful season with East Haven cheerleading by being named an All-SCC athlete.

Boys’ Indoor Track

Tyler Varveris was named to the All-SCC Second Team for the 55 meters for the Yellowjackets.

Wrestling

Jack Fletcher represented East Haven wrestling well on the mat, earning Second Team All-Conference honors for his efforts.

Girls’ Basketball

For East Haven girls’ basketball, Juliana Iovino was named to the All-SCC Second Team.

Boys’ Basketball

Dom Galletti earned First Team All-SCC honors for East Haven boys’ basketball.

Boys’ Swimming and Diving

East Haven’s Cameron Foster earned a spot on the All-SCC Team for the 100-yard freestyle.
