North Haven Football, Girls Soccer Collect Wins on the Week

Football

North Haven football hosted Notre Dame-West Haven on Sept. 29 and won 56-0.

Field Hockey

Nighthawks field hockey traveled to Mercy on Sept. 26 and took a 2-0 win. Two days later, the team hosted Sheehan and lost 4-0.

On Sept. 30, North Haven played host to Cheshire and fell 3-0.

Girls’ Volleyball

Girls’ volleyball hit the road to Guilford on Sept. 26 and lost 3-1.

The next day, the Nighthawks hosted Lauralton Hall and took another 3-1 loss. Chandler Morris recorded four aces, 10 kills, and three digs. Alyssa DiGiovanna had 12 kills and 12 digs, and Avery Berney had four aces, 10 kills, and 14 digs.

On Sept. 29, the team traveled to Cheshire and lost 3-0.

Girls’ Soccer

The girls’ soccer team traveled to Hamden on Sept. 26 and took a 1-1 draw. Then, on Sept. 30, the Nighthawks played host to East Haven and won 3-0.

Boys’ Soccer

On Sept. 26, North Haven boys’ soccer traveled to Sheehan and lost 6-1. Then, on Sept. 29, the team traveled to Branford and took a 2-1 loss.

Girls’ Swimming and Diving

The North Haven girls’ swimming and diving team traveled to Amity on Sept. 26 and lost the meet 93-76. First place finishes for the Nighthawks included Meghan DeRubeis in the 1-meter dive (228.70), the 200 relay team of Madisen Karavas, Angelina Valentino, Abigail Lorusso, and Avery Cullen (2:10.20), Giada Garofalo in the 100 backstroke (1:15.51), Amelia Bautz in the 100 breaststroke (1:29.46), and the 400 relay team of Karavas, Garofalo, Morgan Nunez, and Bautz.

On Sept. 28, the Nighthawks traveled to Hamden for the next meet and lost 95-88. Karaves won the 200 yard freestyle (2:26.53) followed by Nunez in third (2:30.57) and Lorusso in fourth (2:52.47). Garofalo (28.14) finished in first place in the 50 freestyle, and Valentino took third in that event (31.74). DeRubeis won the 1 meter diving competition (225.50) followed by Riley Mattox in third (164.45). Karavas (1:14.05) and Nunez (1:25.31) took second and third, respectively, in the 100 butterfly.

Garofalo (1:03.02) and Amelia Bautz (1:07.25) finished in second and third in the 100 freestyle. The 200 freestyle relay team of Karavas, Bautz, Nunez, and Garofalo took second with a team time of 1:59.97. In the 100 backstroke, Scarlett Russek took second place with a time of 1:30.37, followed by teammate Lorusso in third (1:32.45) and Kaili Wan in fourth (1:38.19). The 400 freestyle relay team, comprised of Karavas, Nunez, Bautz, and Garofalo, finished in first with a time of 4:34.48.
