Madison Hoop Dreams School of Basketball

Madison Hoop Dreams will hold its School of Basketball program at Polson Middle School, 302 Greenhill Road, Madison, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in September and October. The focus is on ball-handling skills and pure shooting form. This is the 20th anniversary of offering this program. The organization is very proud of the many players who have gone on to start on various area basketball teams (both girls and boys).

With improved offensive skills, players have more confidence in their abilities and, as a result, increase their love for basketball. The program will teach the art of shooting with drills they can take home. In addition, the instruction includes ball handling drills, different types of dribbling, pivoting, all the types of passes, driving, moving without the ball, and shooting over 100 shots each session. Last year, one camper (a 4th grader) learned how to shoot an opposite-handed layup after just one session. Madison Hoop Dreams loves working with all campers through group and individual instruction!

The dates for this year’s program are: Sept. 6, 8, 11, 13, 15, 18, 20, 22, 27 and 29; and Oct. 2, 4, 6, 11, 13, 16, 18, 20, 23, 25, and 27. Each session is from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. The cost is $20 per session ($16/hour). A different instructor is offered each night. On Mondays, Bobby Moore (basketball legend from New Haven) will be the head coach. On Wednesdays, Brett Zanardi (assistant coach at Connecticut College) will be the head coach. On Fridays, Rich Pagliuca (one of the top coaches ever in Connecticut) will be the head coach. Players get a variety of instruction to enhance their focus on the various skill sets. Each of the three coaches is considered one of the top basketball coaches in the state.

Please go to madisonhoopdreams.com to register. It would be very helpful if each player attended with some of their friends or teammates to enhance their enjoyment of the activities. They intend to have one coach for every five players. Madison Hoop Dreams anticipates the 20th anniversary to be the best ever.

They also offer financial assistance to families in need of help. Please call Coach Bill Barker (203-494-6905) with any questions. If one chooses to attend all sessions (21), the cost is $375. If one misses some sessions, a credit or refund is given. If one pays by week or month, a credit or refund will also be given for sessions missed. The third choice is to pay each evening a player attends.
