H-K Boys’ Lacrosse Wins Conference Championship; Golf Places Third at Shorelines


Baseball

Baseball split the week last week, taking both a win and loss at home in conference tournament action. The Cougars hosted Morgan on May 22, shutting out the visitors 5-0. They hosted North Branford on May 23 in a 2-0 loss. The team is 17-6 for the season.

Boys’ Lacrosse

Boys’ lacrosse grabbed two wins in conference tournament action last week. They beat Morgan 6-5 on May 22 in the Shoreline Conference semifinals before defeating North Branford 8-4 in the finals on May 25 to be crowned the conference champions. The Cougars are 14-2 for the season.

Softball

Cougars softball picked up a pair of tournament wins before taking a loss in the third round. The team hosted Hale Ray on May 22 in a 14-2 win before hitting the road to Old Lyme on May 23, winning 6-2. The team faced North Branford on May 25, suffering a 10-3 loss. The team is 16-6 for the season.

Senior Kaleigh Bodak was named to the All-Shoreline Conference First Team as a utility player and junior infielder Ivy McNiel was named to the Second Team with junior outfielder Annabelle Zajac. Cheyenne LaTouche was an Honorable Mention.

Girls’ Lacrosse

Girls’ lacrosse took a loss in tournament play last week. The team traveled to face North Branford on May 23, falling 14-4. The Cougars are 8-7 for the season.

Golf

On May 23, the Haddam-Killingworth boys’ golf team competed in the Shoreline Conference Championship, placing third overall with a team score of 334. Andrew Crayton scored an 80, Owen Staskelunas scored an 83 and Jacob Maier earned an 84. Declan Kessler recorded an 87 and Colton Whiteley scored an 89.

On May 24, the Cougars wrapped up the regular season slate with a non-league match vs. East Hampton, H-K walked away with a 167-176 win. Andrew Crayton scored a 41, Owen Staskelunas also scored a 41, and Declan Kessler scored a 42. Jacob Maier followed with a 43 and Colton Whiteley scored a 44. Andrew Crayton and Declan kessler earned Second Team All-Shoreline honors for their efforts this spring.
