North Branford Softball Wins Shoreline Final; Golf Takes Fourth at Shorelines

Softball

T-birds softball picked up three wins last week in the opening rounds of tournament play. The team hosted Valley Regional on May 22, defeating the visitors 12-0. On May 23, they played host to Cromwell in a 7-4 overtime victory.

Then, on May 25, North Branford played host to Haddam-Killingworth in the Shoreline Conference Finals and won 10-3 to continue its conference champion winning streak of six straight titles. Junior infielders Lindsey Onofrio and Natalie Lucibello were named to the First Team All-Shoreline Conference. Junior Kiley Mullins was named to the First Team as a utility player and Head Coach Nick DeLizio was named Coach of the Year. Sophomore infielder Lexi Falcioni was named a Second Team All-Shoreline athlete, as was senior outfielder Tessa Juniver. Gabi Senerchia was an honorable mention. The team is now 22-1 for the season.

Baseball

Baseball grabbed a pair of wins last week, topping Cromwell and Haddam-Killingworth in tournament play. The team hosted Cromwell on May 22, defeating their visitors 1-0. On May 23, they traveled to Higganum to face Haddam-Killingworth in a 2-0 victory. The T-birds are now 14-8.

Girls’ Lacrosse

Girls’ lacrosse split the week, recording a win and a loss in the playoffs. The T-birds hosted Haddam-Killingworth on May 23, winning 14-4. On May 25, they faced Old Saybrook in the finals and were defeated 14-9. The T-birds are 13-5.

Boys’ Lacrosse

North Branford boys’ lacrosse began conference tournament play on May 22, defeating Old Saybrook by a score of 12-11 in the semifinals of the Shoreline Conference Tournament. On May 25, North Branford fell to Haddam-Killingworth in the finals by a score of 8-4. The team is now 11-7.

Golf

T-Birds golf participated in the Shoreline Conference Championship on May 23 and placed fourth as a team with a score of 335. Jack O’Brien was named First Team All-Shoreline and Robert Cappella was awarded Second Team honors.
