North Branford Girls’ Lacrosse Splits the Week; Softball Stays Hot


Baseball

Thunderbirds baseball had a tough week, recording two losses in game play. The team traveled to North Haven on May 18 in a 10-9 loss. They visited Branford on May 19, falling 9-6. The team is now 12-8.

Boys’ Tennis

The tough season continued for boys’ tennis with the team dropping all three contests last week. The T-birds hosted Jonathan Law on May 15 in a 7-0 defeat before hitting the road to Branford on May 16, falling to their hosts 1-6. On May 18, the team returned home to host Xavier in a 5-2 loss. The doubles duos of Greg Vera/Matteo Martinez (6-4, 6-2) and Luis Tejeda-Valenzuela/Angel Orozco (6-3, 6-2) recorded victories in the loss. The T-birds are now 3-16.

Girls’ Lacrosse

Girls’ lacrosse split the week last week, picking up a win and a loss at home. The team hosted Old Lyme on May 15, defeating the visitors 12-7. On May 18, they hosted Branford and took a narrow 11-10 loss. The T-birds are now 12-4 for the season.

Softball

The impressive season continued for T-birds softball. The team recorded a trio of victories last week. On May 15, they traveled to Old Lyme in a 2-1 victory. They stayed on the road for a 1-0 victory over Ellington on May 17, and they hosted East Haven on May 18 in a 6-5 win. The team is now 19-1 for the season.

Girls’ Tennis

Girls’ tennis picked up two wins last week, one at home and one on the road. On May 16, the team traveled to Lyman Hall and won 5-2 before hosting Haddam-Killingworth on May 17 and winning 4-3. The team is now 4-12 on the season.

Boys’ Lacrosse

Boys’ lacrosse picked up a road win last week, defeating Old Lyme 7-6. The T-birds are now 10-5 for the season.
