North Haven Softball Continues Perfect Season; Boys’ Lacrosse Grabs Two Wins

Baseball

Nighthawks baseball had a mixed week, earning a win while taking two losses. The team hosted Xavier on April 17 in a 3-0 loss, before traveling to Milford to take on Foran on April 19 for a 3-0 victory. On April 21, the team returned home to host Notre Dame in a close 5-4 loss. The team is now 4-6 for the season.

Girls’ Lacrosse

Girls’ lacrosse continued its tough season, adding two losses to its 0-6 record. The team hosted Lyman Hall on April 17, recording a 16-12 loss. Goals for the Nighthawks were scored by Catherine Bianchi, Madison Karavas, Kendall Washington, Nola Coyle, and Sydney Pitcher. Senior goalie and captain Gabby Barry kept pace for the Nighthawks with six big second half saves. On April 20, Fairfield Warde came to town, defeating North Haven 15-6.

Softball

Nighthawks softball continued its perfect season, tacking on three road wins in its 9-0 campaign.

The team traveled to Middletown on April 17, posting a 13-7 win over Mercy behind the pitching of Reece Hebert, who recorded five strikeouts. The offense was led by Izzy Blanchard, with two hits and two RBI. Kayla Balisciano added two hits and two RBI as well, and Jules Galasso recorded two hits to go along with two RBI. Gabby Blanchard had three hits and three RBI.

On April 19, they faced Sheehan in Wallingford and earned a 14-2 win. They posted a 19-0 shutout victory on April 21 at Hamden.

Boys’ Lacrosse

Boys’ lacrosse put up a perfect week, adding two wins to their season total. On April 18, the Nighthawks hosted Law in a 18-5 victory. They traveled to West Haven on April 20 for a 15-2 win. The team is 4-2 on the season.

Girls’ Tennis

Girls’ tennis recorded a win on the road over Mercy on April 18. The team defeated its hosts 5-2 to bring the season record to 2-4.

Boys’ Tennis

Boys’ tennis added two wins and a loss to their season record, bringing their current record to 2-7.

On April 19, the team hosted East Haven in a 7-0 victory. In singles play, Lucas de Lencastre recorded two 6-1 victories, Minh Nguyen notched a 6-1 and 6-2 win, and Parthiv Patel won 6-0 and 6-1. Jack Senga also grabbed a victory at No. 4 singles (6-1, 6-1). In doubles, Jess Hansard and Billy Lipinksi took a 6-0 and 6-1 victory, and Evan Looney and Sam Gierin recorded two 6-1 victories. North Haven won No. 3 doubles by forfeit.

On April 20, the Nighthawks traveled to the Wesleyan University tennis courts to face Xavier, where they fell 7-0. The #1 singles matchup between Lucas de Lencastre and Xavier’s Tyler Ferguson was a very competive contest, going into a Super Tiebreaker and ultimately securing Xavier a victory (3-6, 6-4, 10-6).

North Haven then faced Wilcox Tech on the road on April 21, sweeping the board for a 7-0 win. Singles victories came from Lucas de Lencastre (6-0, 6-0), Minh Nguyen (6-0 6-0), Parthiv Patel (6-3, 6-1) and Sam Giering (6-0, 6-2). For doubles, Evan Looney/Jonathan Chin took 7-5 and 6-2 victories. Alex Ranciato and Oscar Hammarlund 6-1, 6-1) earned a win, and Andrew Bautz/Ellwyn Michael added on with a 7-6 (3) and 6-1 victory.
