The North Haven High School (NHHS) Athletic Department has announced the appointment of Cassie Bishop as the new head coach for the North Haven High School girls’ rugby program.

Bishop has been in and around the sport of rugby for over a decade before joining NHHS. Since falling in love with the sport while studying abroad in Ireland, she has played for several women’s club teams in Ohio before moving to Connecticut and becoming involved with the New Haven Club team.

Her experience coaching youth rugby started with the USA Rookie Rugby Program. She ran youth camps and clinics in Ohio and Connecticut and coached Staples High School in its inaugural girls’ rugby season. She is excited to join the North Haven girls’ rugby team and is looking forward to getting the season started.

Athletic Director Steve Blumenthal said, “Coach Bishop is passionate about rugby and committed to providing a positive atmosphere for our student-athletes with lots of learning opportunities. We are very excited to have Coach Bishop as the first girls’ rugby coach hired by North Haven Public Schools.”
