Knights’ Field Hockey Notches a Win and a Draw; Boys’ Soccer Earns Tie Versus Amistad

Field Hockey

The Westbrook-Old Lyme (W-OL) field hockey team played a pair of road games in last week’s action. The Knights came away from the week with a few points by earning a tie versus Haddam-Killingworth and then posting an overtime victory versus Morgan to move to 2-2-2 on the year.

W-OL started off the week by plating Haddam-Killingworth to a 0-0 draw in a road game on Sept. 20. Two days later, the Knights were back on the road to face Morgan and edged out the Huskies by a 2-1 score in overtime at the Indian River Complex.

W-OL is hosting North Branford on Friday, Sept. 30 at 4 p.m. The Knights will then play at Old Saybrook on Monday, Oct. 3 at 6:30 p.m., followed by a road game versus Somers-Rockville at Somers High School on Tuesday, Oct 4 at 6:30 p.m.

Boys’ Soccer

The Westbrook boys’ soccer team stepped on the pitch to play three home games last week. The Knights battled Amistad to a tie and also took losses against East Hampton and Old Saybrook to put their record at 1-3-1 on the season.

Westbrook hosted East Hampton on Sept. 19 and took an 8-0 defeat to Bellringers. Two days later, the Knights played a home game versus Amistad and the contest ended in a 1-1 draw. Then on Sept. 23, the Knights faced Old Saybrook at Westbrook High School and took a 3-0 defeat to the Rams.

Westbrook is playing a road game against Haddam-Killingworth on Friday, Sept. 30 at 3:45 p.m. The Knights will then return home to host Harding on Monday, Oct. 3 at 4 p.m., after which they will be on the road to play Amistad on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 3:45 p.m.

Girls’ Soccer

The Westbrook girls’ soccer squad hit the road to play a pair of away games in recent action. Westbrook took losses in both contests and is now 1-4 for the 2022 season.

On Sept. 19, the Knights played a road game against East Hampton and lost the contest by a 4-0 score. Then on Sept. 22, Westbrook returned to the road for a matchup versus Old Saybrook and dropped a 2-1 decision to the Rams.

Westbrook is playing a home game against Haddam-Killingworth on Friday, Sept. 30 at 3:45 p.m. After that, the Knights are playing at Amistad on Monday, Oct. 3 at 3:45 p.m., followed by a road game with North Branford/Hale-Ray at North Branford High School at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5.
