The Madison Stingers took the town’s Majors Little League baseball team with an 8-5 win over the Golden Plungers in the championship game. The Stingers claimed the Madison Little League Majors Division championship by earning an 8-5 win versus the Golden Plungers on June 11. The victory proved a fitting ending for a Stingers’ team that finished with the season with an overall record of 16-2-1 and had a run differential of plus-99.

The championship game featured a matchup between two of the youngest teams in the Madison Little League Majors Division. The game was tied 5-5 going into the bottom of the fifth inning, where the Stingers took an 8-5 lead by scoring 3 runs in the frame. The Golden Plungers put two runners on base in the top of the sixth inning, but the Stingers were able to get out of to jam to secure the victory and take the league title.

The players on the Stingers’ roster are Cam Brophy, Donovan Davis, Ryan Garcia, Will Catino, Ashton Hagen, Malcom Kaiman, Joshua Maynard, Sean Perrelli, Cooper Romanchok, Bryce Simmons, Connor Warnke, and Ryan Warnke. The manager of the Stingers is Bryan Hagan. The team’s coaching staff also includes David Brophy, Elliot Kaiman, and Jim Maynard.

The Stingers received contributions from everyone on its team in the championship victory. Starting pitcher Ashton Hagen pitched 4 innings and struck out 6 batters for the team in the win.

The Stingers’ offense had 9 hits on the day, including multiple hits from both Josh Maynard and Ryan Warnke. The game also featured key RBI from Hagen, Maynard, Malcom Kaiman, and Bryce Simmons, big hits by Will Catino and Sean Perrelli, clutch defensive plays from Donovan Davis and Connor Warnke, and timely pitching by Cooper Romanchok. Ryan Garcia had 2 runs scored for the Stingers, while Brophy also scored a run in the victory.

After winning the town title, eight players from the Stingers have gone on to represent Madison Little League in the All-Star District tournaments this summer. Those players are Hagen (12-U), Maynard (12-U), Kaiman (11-U), Perrelli (11-U), Simmons (11-U), Cooper Warnke (11-U), Ryan Warnke (11-U), and Romanchok (10-U). Madison’s 12-U and 11-U teams have each won their respective District 9 championships.
