Bill’s Seafood Awards Eight Student-Athletes with Scholarships

Bill’s Seafood Restaurant in Westbrook recently presented its annual scholarships for 2022. The Bill’s Seafood scholarship committee handed out scholarships to eight student-athletes who recently graduated from their respective high schools in the local area.

The recipients of the 2022 Bill’s Seafood Scholarship include Garret Garbinski and Katherine Robinson of Clinton, Lily Cody and Lilly Sigersmith from Old Saybrook, and Jonah Freund and Xan Zanzalari from Westbrook. Ava Cunningham and James Marsden, two recent graduates of Valley Regional High School in Deep River, were also honored with a scholarship.

The funds for the Bill’s Seafood Scholarship are raised through a golf tournament that is held annually in September. This year, the total amount raised for all scholarship recipients was $22,000.

The scholarships awards are presented to students who have demonstrated positive character, leadership, and good citizen qualities. Each recipient must have participated in athletes during each of their four years of high school and must also be going on to further their education at a four-year college or university, junior college, or business or vocational school.
