North Haven Volleyball Loses in Class L Semis
The North Haven girls’ volleyball team saw its stellar 2021 season come to a close with a loss against RHAM in the semifinals of the Class L State Tournament last week. North Haven took a 3-0 defeat to RHAM in the state semis to finish with an overall record of 20-6 on the year.
After winning its first three matches in the bracket, No. 5 seed North Haven faced top-seeded RHAM in a Class L semifinal contest at New Britain High School on Nov. 17. The Raptors advanced to the state final with 3-0 victory versus North Haven, sweeping the matchup by the score of 25-13, 25-19, 25-22.
Senior captain Hannah Auddino had 15 assists to go with four digs and two aces for North Haven. Fellow senior captain Caroline Toni posted seven digs, four kills, and two blocks. Junior Maren Hill had six kills in the match.
North Haven went 16-4 during the regular season this year, qualifying for both the SCC Tournament and the Class L State Tournament. Head Coach Brianna Kleckner’s squad earned a 3-0 win over Sacred Heart Academy in the first round of SCCs and then took a 3-1 defeat to Mercy in the quarterfinal round. Then in states, North Haven notched victories against Bethel (3-0), Fitch (3-1), and E.O. Smith (3-2) in the first three rounds of the Class L draw before losing to RHAM in the semifinals.
