Branford Girls’ Softball Teams Claim League Titles
After missing out on the entire 2020 season, the Branford Girls’ Softball (BGS) organization came ready to play in 2021. Competing in an inter-town league against teams from Branford, East Haven, North Haven, and Meriden, BGS teams from two age groups—11-U and 14-U—won their respective league championship games this year. Branford’s 14-U squad put together an undefeated season on its way to taking its league title.
The roster for the BGS 14-U team, Jersey Mike’s, featured Italia Bruno, Tia Graziano, Morgan Hackley, Ava Holyst, Veronica Holyst, Lilah LeBlanc, Mikenna Leigh, Tatum Lipka, Elaina Pakutka, Payton Paleski, Chloe Pompano, Meredith Rebmann, Caitlyn Reilly, and Mina von Hofe.
The head coach of Jersey Mike’s is Ryan Lipka. The team’s assistant coaches are Chris Paleski and Sean Reilly.
The athletes on the BGS 11-U team, Indian Neck Motors, are Lia Burke, Violet Davi, Mia Francisco, Grayce Gomes, Jocelyn Leblanc, Camryn Lyons, Rylee Marshall, Briana Montero, Izzy Pakutka, Bella Spinato, and Cassie Tamsin.
Brian Davi is the head coach for Indian Neck Motors. The team’s coaching staff includes assistant coaches Rick Glynn and Jim Lyons.
