T-Birds’ Boys’ Soccer Finishes Year with a Tie; Volleyball Loses in Shoreline Quarters
Boys’ Soccer
The North Branford boys’ soccer team finished the 2019 season by earning a tie versus Amistad last week. On Nov. 4, the Thunderbirds hosted Amistad and battled the Wolves to a 2-2 draw. North Branford completed its campaign with an overall record of 10-5-1.
Girls’ Soccer
The Thunderbirds are the No. 27 seed in the Class M State Tournament and began the draw by playing at No. 6 Lewis Mills in the first round on Nov. 12 (after press time). If North Branford (5-8-3) wins, it will play either No. 11 Haddam-Killingworth or No. 22 Waterford in a second-round matchup on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. The quarterfinals will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16; the semifinals are on either Tuesday, Nov. 19 or Wednesday, Nov. 20; and the Class M final will take place on Saturday, Nov. 23.
Volleyball
The Thunderbirds took a 3-0 loss at Hale-Ray in the Shoreline Conference Tournament quarterfinals on Nov. 4. North Branford finished the 2019 season with an overall record of 5-16.
Football
North Branford was on the bye week last week. With their overall record of 5-2, the T-Birds will return to action on Friday, Nov. 15, when they will travel to Clinton to face Morgan for a Pequot Conference Sassacus Division matchup at the Peters Complex at 6:30 p.m. The Huskies have a record of 1-6 and are 1-3 in Sassacus Division play. North Branford is tied for first place with Coginchaug/East Hampton/Hale-Ray with its mark of 4-0 in the divisional standings. The T-Birds are also in the No. 13 spot in the Class S State Playoff rankings in which the top eight teams qualify.
