Old Saybrook Field Hockey, Girls’ Soccer Get Two Wins Apiece
Field Hockey
The Old Saybrook field hockey team secured a pair of wins in as many games last week. Head Coach Paige Marinellis’ team is off to a strong start this year after last week’s results moved the Rams’ record to 3-1 on the season.
On Sept. 16, Old Saybrook hosted Fitch and earned a 3-1 victory at home. Two days later, the Rams were in Deep River to match up with Valley Regional, and they picked up a 2-0 triumph over the Warriors.
Girls’ Soccer
The Old Saybrook girls soccer team had a busy slate with three games on the slate last week, and the Rams earned two wins out of the three games. With these results Old Saybrook’s record moved to 2-3 on the season.
On Sept. 16, the Rams went up against East Hampton and lost a 3-0 road decision versus the Bellringers. Three days later, Old Saybrook secured a 4-1 road win versus Hale-Ray. Then on Sept. 21, the Rams picked up another win by a large margin in a 5-1 road game against Montville.
Football
The Rams took a tough loss last week in a home contest against Rockville. Old Saybrook-Westbrook (OS-W) dropped a 34-3 decision against Rockville. The Rams were unable to contain Rockville’s attack, and had difficulty making headway against its defense.
Rockville picked up its first touch down in the first quarter on a short passand made it 7-0 with an extra point. In the second quarter, OS-W cut it to 7-3 with a 25-yard field goal from Cooper Pavlovich. Before the end of the half, the Rockville scored another seven points and made it 14-3 at halftime. In the third quarter, Rockville piled on with two more touchdowns to make it 27-3. Rockville added another touch down in the fourth quarter.
Next up for Head Coach Mike Marone’s squad is a home contest versus Haddam-Killingworth on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 10:30 a.m. at Old Saybrook High School.
