East Haven Volleyball Notches First Win; Boys’ Soccer Begins Season
Volleyball
The East Haven volleyball team improved to 2-1 on the season after splitting a pair of contests last week. The Yellowjackets took a 3-0 loss at Guilford on Sept. 18, but bounced back by earning a 3-1 win at Sacred Heart Academy on Sept. 20.
The victory over Sacred Heart Academy moved East Haven to 1-0 in SCC Quinnipiac action this year. The Yellowjackets won the match by the final score of 25-19, 20-25, 25-19, 25-16. Senior setter Bella Ragaini finished with 23 assists and three aces, while senior Eliza Goldberg had eight kills and two blocks for East Haven. Senior captain Samantha Scholottman added five kills in the win.
Girls’ Soccer
The Yellowjackets dropped a pair of contests last week, including one in SCC Housatonic play.
East Haven hosted Foran on Sept. 17 and dropped a 1-0 decision. Two days later, East Haven lost a 3-0 contest versus divisional opponent Hand on the road. East Haven is now 0-2-1 on the year.
Boys’ Soccer
East Haven took a 4-0 loss at Foran in the team’s first game with Head Coach Mike Papantonio on Sept. 17. Junior Asa Myers made 12 saves for the Easties in the defeat.
Girls’ Swimming and Diving
The Yellowjackets were on the road to face North Haven last week and lost to the Indians by the score of 101-71 on Sept. 20. East Haven now has a record of 0-2 this fall.
Sophomore Camryn Lendroth swam to a new best time in the 500 freestyle by dropping 14 seconds off of her previous best mark. Freshman Aby Brooks bettered her best time in the 200 freestyle by more than 10 seconds at the meet.
