Hanratty Runs the 800 at Nationals
Old Saybrook junior Grace Hanratty competed in the 800-meter run at the New Balance Indoor Nationals at The New Balance Armory in New York City on March 9. Hanratty finished with a time of 2:17.32 to finish in 16th place out of 25 runners in the Emerging Elite 800 at the national meet. Alahna Sabbakhan of Washington, D.C. took first place with a time of 2:11.92.
Hanratty had a decorated junior season for the Rams that saw her claim first place in the 1,000-meter run at the Class S State Championship (2:58.03), the State Open Championship (2:58.14), and the New England Championship (2:56.29). Prior to that, she set a meet record in the 600 by running a time of 1:38.56 at the Shoreline Conference Championship, while helping Old Saybrook win the conference title the third straight season. Also at Shorelines, Hanratty ran with Dylan Adams, Autumn Szucs, and Jessica Stratton on the Rams’ victorious 1,600 sprint medley relay, which placed first with a time of 4:37.04.
