H-K Girls’ Hoops Gets First Two Wins; Ice Hockey Also Takes Two
Girls’ Basketball
The Haddam-Killingworth girls’ basketball team recently picked up its first two victories of the 2017-’18 winter season. With the wins, the Cougars improved their record to 2-5 on the year.
The Cougars earned their first win of the winter when they defeated Bulkeley 47-32 on Dec. 28. Then on Jan. 2, H-K made it two wins by posting a 50-40 victory over Portland.
Boys’ Basketball
The Cougars dropped a pair of recent decisions and are now 0-5 for the season.
H-K took a 69-36 defeat against Plainville on Dec. 28. Then on Jan. 2, the Cougars lost to Portland by a 65-49 final.
Ice Hockey
The Lyman Hall/Haddam-Killingworth boys’ ice hockey team improved to 4-3 by winning two of its last three matchups.
The Trojans defeated Norwalk-McMahon 7-2 on Dec. 30 and then took a 6-5 overtime loss to Branford on Jan. 3. Three days later, the team bounced back by netting a 4-3 win over Wethersfield-Middletown-Rocky Hill-Plainville at Newington Arena.
Gymnastics
The H-K/Hale-Ray/Morgan gymnastics team competed against Mercy and Valley Regional in a tri-meet on Dec. 29. The team posted a score of 92.5 points to defeat Valley Regional (84.25) and lose to Mercy (130.15).
Emma Anderson recorded a score of 8.3 on the vault with 6.8 on bars, a 5.8 on the beam, and a 6.7 for the floor exercise at the meet.
