North Haven Girls’ Soccer Loses in States; Santacroce and Alogna Compete at Class M Diving Championship

The North Haven girls’ soccer squad faced Notre Dame-Fairfield on the road in the first round of the Class L State Tournament on Nov. 7. The 24th-seeded Indians took a 2-0 loss against Notre Dame, which was the No. 9 seed.
North Haven and Notre Dame played to a scoreless first half before the Lancers netted a pair of goals in the second half to come away with the victory. The Indians finished their season with a record of 7-8-2 and qualified for states for the second straight year.
Girls’ Swimming and Diving
Ava Santacroce and Isabella Alogna represented North Haven at the Class M Diving State Championship that took place at Bulkeley High School on Nov. 8.
Santacroce, a sophomore, finished in sixth place out of 30 divers by scoring 334.70 points for her 11-dive set. Alogna, a junior, came in 12th place by totaling a score of 280.15.
Both athletes picked up points that will transfer over for the Indians to the Class M State Swimming Championship, which is taking place at Southern Connecticut State University at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 15. The State Open Swimming Championship will be held at Yale University at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18.
