Easties’ Volleyball Defeats Sacred Heart Academy for 11th Win; Girls’ Soccer Loses to North Branford
Volleyball
The Yellowjackets’ volleyball team split its two matchups last week to move to 11-4 for the season.
On Oct. 10, East Haven topped Sacred Heart Academy 3-1 (25-20, 21-25, 25-17, 25-15). Kylie Schlottman and Summer Onorato led the way with 10 kills each, while Julia SanGiovanni, Diana Kalman, and Jessica Stettinger all had five kills for the Yellowjackets. Isabella Ragaini dished off 30 assists, and Megan Roberts had 16 digs in the victory.
East Haven wrapped up its week with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-22, 25-20) loss to Amity on Oct. 13.
Girls’ Soccer
East Haven took three defeats last week to move to 1-10-2 for the year.
On Oct. 10, Hand beat the Yellowjackets 3-0. Three days later, East Haven lost to Sheehan by a 3-0 score. To wrap up the week, North Branford defeated East Haven 2-0 on Oct. 14.
The North Branford game was a very tight match, according to East Haven Head Coach Jake Hackett, who said that both teams played some top-class soccer. Hackett said that the Easties’ defenders and goalie Angelina Munoz put forth a great performance in the loss, as did Jenna Pane, Haley Montesanto, and their fellow attackers. Jordan Kikosicki and Marley Herrard created changes with Herrard playing all around the field. Bella Pilato and Ally Moss generated some dangerous scoring chances, but North Branford’s defense and goalkeeper worked well together to keep the ball out of the net. Munoz made six saves for East Haven.
Boys’ Soccer
East Haven lost its lone game last week by a 7-0 score to Guilford on Oct. 14. The loss moved the Yellowjackets’ record to 1-11 this year.
