Sherry Shines with Bronze Medal at Synchronized Swim Meet
The Hamden Heronettes Intermediate synchronized swimming team recently competed at the East Zone Invitational meet that was held on March 18 and 19 in Norton, Massachusetts, where they competed against 12 other clubs from across the Northeast. For many on the team, this was their first competition, and they all had impressive performances. A few members of the Heronettes landed in the top three of their respective categories, including Laney Sherry of Madison, who won a bronze medal for her 11-12 age group solo. Hamden’s Collette Lynch won bronze for her 13-and-over solo, while Carly Chervenak of Orange won a silver medal for her 13-and-over solo.
“The girls were very excited to attend this first competition after watching our elite team perform so well at the East Zone Championships a few weeks ago,” said Heronettes’ Head Coach Anna Montgomery. “They feel proud of how well they represented themselves and the Heronettes against other clubs. We are very proud as well and are looking forward to the rest of the competitive season.”
The Heronettes will present their 2017 competitive routines at their annual watershow at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 9 and Saturday, June 10 at Hamden High School. For more information on the Heronettes, go visit www.heronettes.org
