Timberwolves Take Valley Cup Trophy with Exciting Overtime Victory
It was another case of March Madness recently when the Deep River Parks and Recreation Department recently held its sixth annual Valley Cup Tournament. The bracket included all nine recreational basketball teams from the league’s 10th-12th-grade division. The single elimination tournament concluded with the Chicago Bulls competing against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the championship game. After an intensely competitive four quarters of basketball, the two teams emerged from regulation tied, thus forcing overtime. The Minnesota Timberwolves ultimately prevailed by a 64-63 final to claim the Valley Cup Trophy. The Bulls were coached by Scott Davis and the Timberwolves’ coaches were Tom Suedmeier and Gene Robida. The athletes on the Timberwolves’ championship squad were Ian Bott, Nick Mardjekaj, Patrick Myslik, Jason Porcaro, Matt Robida, Dylan Santos, Danny Smith, and Fletcher Suedmeier.
