The Old Saybrook Fire Department's Junior Division hosted a pancake breakfast Sunday, February 17th, at the fire headquarters in Old Saybrook. The pancake breakfast featured eggs, sausage, bacon, toast, coffee, tea and juice. Funds raised from the breakfasts assist the OSFD's Junior Division, a high-school age unit of the fire department. Tours of headquarters and the firefighting equipment were available upon request by Junior Division.

The next Sunday pancake breakfasts are March 1, and March 15th.   The breakfasts will be held at Old Saybrook Fire Department headquarters, located at the intersection of Main St and Old Boston Post Rd.


The OSFD's Junior Division is an outstanding program for those ages 15 to 17 years old. The Junior division is currently recruiting for additional Junior firefighters interested in joining their ranks. For more information visit www.oldsaybrookfire.com.

OSFD Junior Division Hosts Pancake Breakfasts

þÄúDays For GirlsþÄù hosted a Sew-a-Thon, kit assembly, soup lunch and presentation Saturday February 15th at the Zion Episcopal Church in North Branford. Participants sewed, ironed and prepared supplies for needed materials in Kenya.

Hosted by Ralph Stroup, MD, and Mary Ann Stroup they have been working in Kenya to build health care infrastructure, clean water, empower women, and help educate children. ‘Days for Girls’ Hosts Sew-a-Thon to Benefit Girls in Kenya

The Hagaman Memorial Library hosted a Teen Chocolate Tasting Thursday February 13th.  Participants sampled eight different chocolates including a variety of white, milk and dark chocolate.  The teens rated and compared the chocolates on their different characteristics.

Guilford Girls' and Boys' Track Squads Compete at State Championships

A Wine, Chocolate, and Paint Night was held at The Congregational Church in Killingworth on Saturday, February 15, 2020 to benefit the Preservation 2020 fundraising campaign. It is currently raising money to restore the most significant landmark in town which is the 200 year old church. The interior dome, exterior, bell, clock, carillon, and much else are in need of repairs. They have raised $190,000 so far with a goal of $404,000 by the churchþÄôs 200th anniversary on May 31, 2020. Country Package and Votto Vines brought wine samples to the event, owner of Cindy Stevens Fine Art, Cindy Stevens helped guests paint on wine glasses and vases, and there were desserts and more. þÄúProject: Music Heals UsþÄù held a chamber music concert Friday February 14th at the First Congregational Church.  The theme of the program was Legends and Folklore III þÄúParadise LostþÄù.

A ribbon cutting for the new cat wing and renovated shelter took place at The Animal Haven, North Haven on Thursday afternoon. The celebration  included  a tour of the newly remodeled facility.  The Animal Haven President, Linda Marino, shelter manager, Michelle Derosa, North Haven First Selectman, Michael Freda, State Representative, Dave Yaccarino, and Logan Roddy, Grantmaking Officer of the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven line up for the ribbon cutting.

The Musical Art Society (MAS) of Branford held its 100th Anniversary Concert, with showcase of scholarship stars, previous Alice Collins Memorial Scholarship winners, Sunday afternoon at the First Congregational Church.At the end of the performances, the tradition of having a audience sing along took place. A Go Red for Women Dinner and Fashion Show was held Saturday night at Seasons,  East Haven. the event included  a buffet dinner, cash bar, and a red dress fashion show with  dresses by AþÄôs Unique Boutique in Guilford. The proceeds benefit the American Heart Association. Dawn O'Brien, Rebecca Barnikow, Eryn Sheeley, , Anna Cerino, , Sally Attianese, Julia Kinney and Kara Engstrom pose for a photo all wearing dresses from A's Unique Boutique for the event.

Old Saybrook Rotary ClubþÄôs Wine and Beer and Silent Auction Fundraiser took place at the Saybrook Point Inn on Friday, February 7, 2020. Beer and wines were provided by Seaside Wine & Spirits. The Laid Back Jazz Trio played live music during the event. There was also a raffle. Proceeds went to the Old Saybrook Rotary Club which provides college scholarships and supports the community and international projects. Bob Donlin (Allan S.
