Saybrook Home Reflects On the Meaning of Growth, Experiences, & Family Business

It's been an exciting year of change for Saybrook Home, which has now finished its first year under a new brand. In late 2018 after 40-plus years in the business, Saybrook Home was rebranded from Saybrook Country Barn to better reflect the evolving experience of all that is offered in the shops. From a new logo and website to signs and campaigns, one year later the store is enjoying continued growth and recognition. Accompanying the brand change was the announcement of an exciting new partnership with renowned Lily Pulitzer as a new line of designer fashion available in the apparel shop.

A commitment to the importance of family and community always runs in the background of the main street business. This past year, Saybrook Home dedicated many of its efforts toward community experiences and infused them into its business plan. Events included flower arranging classes in collaboration with MAR Floral, a Dog Days Adoption event, a breast cancer awareness social media campaign, an end-of-year coat drive to benefit Saybrook Social Services, and pictures with Santa to round out the year. These experiences and more are now attracting new and longtime customers to visit the brick and mortar retailer in larger numbers than ever before.

In October of this year, Saybrook Home was recognized for the family business at the 2019

Hartford Business Journal Family Business Awards as both a finalist and fourth place winner of the 26-75 full-time employees award. The Family Business Awards honor achievements of the top family-owned companies in Connecticut who have had particularly strong successes over the last 12 months: completing expansions, growing in the marketplace, fulfilling major projects, and breaking new ground in the local and state business community. Winners were identified for what sets them apart from the competition, how they have stayed ahead in the marketplace, and how they remain true to their founding family business principles in a modern world.
