Merry & Bright Holidays at Evergreen Woods

Living up to its namesake, brilliantly lit evergreen trees usher in a season of joy at Evergreen Woods, New England's premier retirement community.

"It's especially nice to be at Evergreen Woods during holiday time because the members and staff are all so friendly," says member Rhoda Russota Berman.

The holidays are a time for celebration, and staff at Evergreen Woods ensure that members are enjoying their favorite rituals, traditions, and holiday dishes. Throughout the community, the dining services team, the social and wellness directors, and the facilities team are all prepping for a festive holiday.

"It's a great time of year. The celebrations are cheerful, the food is never-ending, and the time with family is priceless," says Blair Quasnitschka, executive director of Evergreen Woods.

Spending time with loved ones and friends is the common thread that is sewn through the community events and activities during this time of year. The festivities are abundant, offering something for everyone, with options for family and friends to join.

"Whether it is enjoying carolers from local schools, helping to set up the Resident Christmas Tree, or celebrating Hanukkah's First Night, we are right at home for the holidays at Evergreen Woods," says Berman.

"We like to offer a variety of events so there is something for everyone to enjoy," says Social Director Irene Katzias. "Their social calendar is bustling with events including a snowball fight, making gingerbread houses, meeting a live reindeer, an ice carving demonstration, Dreidel, a Hanukkah Dinner, New Year's Eve Dining Experience, and more!"

No holiday would be complete without a festive food spread. From Thanksgiving to the New Year, the Dining Services Department prepares traditional favorites, secret home recipes, and modern twists on holiday classics for members to enjoy.

"We focus on recreating that holiday feeling, the ritual of sitting down with family to enjoy a plentiful meal and relaxing," says Executive Chef Maria Esposito. "We're committed to making this time of year special for our members."

The meals that are served during the holidays include elaborate brunches, perfectly plated dinners, and sprawling family-style buffets complete with entree, sides, and of course, an assortment of sweet and savory desserts. Also during the holidays, the members of Evergreen Woods take advantage of the community's private dining room to host intimate gatherings for their family and friends.

"Private dining menus can be customized to our member specifications. If they want traditional hors d'oeuvres or to include Mom's exact cornbread stuffing recipe, those special touches can be built into their celebration," says Esposito.
