Celebrating its 25th year in business, Chips Pub III (CP3) has stayed current with periodic menu changes, a rotating cocktail list and growing craft beer selection—often from local breweries—along with nightly dinner specials.
As you're greeted with a bowl of perfectly salted popcorn for the table, you'll find friends watching sports on one of the bar's six TVs, families enjoying a delicious meal in the split-level dining room, and regular customers making new friends at the bar.
"Back in 1994, my then-partner Bruce Chips (now retired) and I felt there was a need for a family-friendly restaurant in Clinton," says owner Steve Sinni.
And family friendly is accurate, especially on Thursday nights from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. when, for more than 17 years now, "Magic Christina" goes table-to-table delighting kids of all ages with her sleight of hand magic tricks and balloon animals.
Being a part of the family community in Clinton is important to Sinni and his staff. CP3 has a long history of supporting local efforts and hosting fundraisers, most recently helping to raise enough money to grant a wish for Clinton recipients of Make-a-Wish Connecticut. And every year during the annual Christmas in Clinton celebration, CP3 lets kids eat free all day.
Once you open the menu, it's easy to see why so many people enjoy eating at CP3. Between the large selection of appetizers, salads, burgers, sandwiches, and full entrees, there indeed is something for everyone, and the generous portions are sure to satisfy. But try to leave room for dessert . . . their house-made Mud Pie has a following all its own.
You'll also notice the friendly humor woven throughout the menu as you order "Not-So-Chilly Chili," "The Hangover Cure" burger, and the "Gone Fishing" sandwich. Kids too will find fun items to order like, "Tickle Me Elbow" and a "Hot-Diggity Dog and Fries."
Sinni attributes his success to his crew and his passion.
"Every day I am thankful for my entire staff, says Sinni. "They are the friendliest, most honest, and hardest working people I know. Some have been with me for over 20 years, which is rare in this business. I want to thank all of the customers who continually support us. I do not take my business for granted and am as passionate today as I was 25 years ago."
