The Valley Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in the towns of Essex, Deep River, and Chester. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Essex

Wednesday, Nov. 23

• A 52-year-old of Melody Ridge Road was arrested at 9:12 p.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and drinking while driving. State police received a call about a suspicious vehicle on Main Street. Troopers located the suspect vehicle on Meadow Ridge Road and conducted a traffic stop. The operator was the sole occupant of the vehicle and had an open alcoholic beverage in the center console. The trooper also detected the odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from the driver’s breath. He consented to and failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests.

Thursday, Nov. 24

• Two juveniles were arrested at 5 p.m. and charged with starting a brush fire behind Deep River Hardware Store at 4 Elm Street. The brush fire was ignited on Nov. 9.

Friday, Nov. 25

No arrests were made.

Saturday, Nov. 26

• A 27-year-old woman of Hemlock Drive was arrested at 2:39 a.m. and charged with home invasion, criminal trespass in the second degree, criminal mischief in the first degree, disorderly conduct, and assault in the third degree. She was processed on a $25,000 surety bond. The alleged victims in the case were a 24-year-old and a 26-year-old.

Chester
