• A 34-year-old Haddam man was arrested at 10:27 a.m. and charged with criminal mischief in the second degree and breach of peace in the second degree. The alleged victim in the case was a 68-year-old woman of Higganum Road in Killingworth. A trooper was dispatched to 451 Route 81 for the report of an active disturbance. Upon arrival, the trooper met with the complainant, who stated verbally and then later in a sworn statement that at 10:15 a.m. River’s Edge Landscaping came to cut her lawn, which they usually do every week. However, due to the lack of rainfall, the complainant’s grass was not growing and the prior week she asked the owner of the landscaping company if mowing could be skipped this current week. The complainant thought the owner listened to her request, but then the River’s Edge Landscaping truck arrived on July 14 and a crew began cutting her grass. The complainant went outside and told the crew that she did not want the lawn cut and that she had previously talked with the owner. A white male, on a riding lower, over six feet tall, bald, and approximately 40 years old and wearing a dark shirt and cargo pants, told her that the owner told him to come and cut the lawn and so he was going to do so. The complainant then asked the crew to leave her property. The work crew refused to leave so the complainant informed the bald man that she was going to call the owner. The man on the mower then stood up, gave the complainant the middle finger, grabbed his crotch, and pumped his genitals in her direction. When she proceeded toward her house to make the phone call, she heard a cracking sound. She turned around to see that the man on the lower ran over her wooden picket fence. The complainant observed the bald man laughing as he did so. The man (and the woman he was working with) then drove the mower onto their trailer and left the residence. The investigating trooper reached the owner, who stated that he was on vacation. He then provided the trooper with the identity of the man on the mower. Probable cause was established to issue a warrant for the man’s arrest.

Saturday, Aug. 27 - Tuesday, Aug. 30

No arrests were made.
