The Valley Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in the towns of Essex, Deep River, and Chester. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Essex

Wednesday, Aug. 17

• A 40-year-old Groton man was arrested at 12:07 a.m. and charged with disorderly conduct following an investigation on Deep River Road in Essex. The alleged victims in the case were a 40 year-old and a 32 year-old. In the same incident a 32 year-old woman of an apartment at 75 Deep River Road was arrested on the strength of a warrant charging her with disorder conduct.

Sunday, Sept. 11

• A 31-year-old man of Prospect Hill Street in Deep River was arrested at 12:33 a.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway, and operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s license. The accused was operating a 2022 GMC Sierra bearing Connecticut combination registration plate C234772. He was operating eastbound on route 148 and southbound on Route 154. As the vehicle operated on Route 148 and Route 154 it crossed over the double yellow lines on multiple occasions into the oncoming lane of travel. A motor vehicle stop was initiated by the investigating trooper. The accused consented to and failed a standardized field sobriety test.
