As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Essex

Wednesday, July 13 - Tuesday, July 19

Thursday, July 21

• A 32 year-old Hartford man was arrested at 8:15 a.m. and charged with burglary in the third degree, conspiracy to commit burglary in the third degree, larceny in the second degree, and conspiracy to commit larceny in the second degree. He was arrested on an active warrant for crimes committed at Moeller instrument company 126 Main Street in Ivoryton. The building was broken into overnight on the 21st and items were stolen. The rear loading door had been forced open, by forcibly removing a padlock hasp by pulling the screws out of the wooden door. Numerous items were missing throughout the building including five to eight cardboard boxes of machine brass parts weighing about 100 pounds, eight boxes of stainless-steel machine parts weighing about 300 pounds, a socket set, two Dremel rotary tools, and one battery-operated drill. The estimated value of the stolen items was between $12,000 and $15,000. The facility did not have an alarm system or video cameras at the time therefore the exact time of the incident could not be determined. The accused was processed on a $75,000 surety bond.

Monday, Aug. 1

• A 36 year-old Madison man was arrested at 7:25 p.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway following a motor vehicle stop in Essex.

Tuesday, Aug. 2

• No arrests were made.

• A complaint about illegal dumping of brush along Park Road in the Ivoryton section of Essex was investigated at 3:57 p.m. The complainant obtained a license plate number and description of the male involved. The case was still under investigation at press time.

Deep River

Wednesday, July 13 - Tuesday, July 19

No arrests were made.

Wednesday, July 20

• A 54 year-old man of 266 Main Street and Deep River was arrested at 3:50 a.m. and charged with disorderly conduct and assault in the third degree. The alleged victim was a 39 year-old.

Thursday, July 21 - Tuesday, Aug. 2

No arrests were made.

Chester
