Police Incident Report for Sept. 30 to Dec. 29


The Valley Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in the towns of Essex, Deep River, and Chester. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Essex

Wednesday, Sept. 30 to Wednesday, Nov. 4

No arrests were made.

Thursday, Nov. 5

• A 49 year-old woman of Main Street in Centerbrook was arrested at 4:40 p.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to maintain a reasonable distance apart following a motor vehicle crash on Main Street in front of Citibank. Police first responded to a call about a traffic accident and discovered that the at-fault driver was intoxicated.

Friday, Nov. 6 to Tuesday, Nov. 17

No arrests were made.

Wednesday, Nov. 18

• A 47 year-old man of Main Street in Ivoryton was arrested at 2:16 p.m. and charged with criminal mischief in the second degree, breach of peace in the second degree, and assault in the third degree following a disturbance at Essex Hardware Store.

Thursday, Nov. 19 to Sunday, Nov. 22

No arrests were made.

Monday, Nov. 23

• A 19 year-old man of Seacrest Road in Old Saybrook was arrested at 8:43 p.m. and charged with possession of greater than one-half ounce of cannabis, possession of a controlled substance, and failure to drive upon the right after he was stopped on West Avenue near Essex Village for erratic operation of a motor vehicle. During the traffic stop the investigating trooper detected a strong odor of marijuana from inside the vehicle and marijuana was in plain view. The vehicle was searched, which revealed suspected Xanax pills, a marijuana cigarette, and a THC vape pen.

Tuesday, Nov. 24 to Thursday, Nov. 26

No arrests were made.

Friday, Nov. 27

• A 46 year-old Chester man was arrested at 7:31 p.m. and charged with failure to keep a narcotic in its original container and possession of a controlled substance following a motor vehicle stop on Westbrook Road.

Saturday, Nov. 28 to Tuesday, Dec. 29

No arrests were made.

Deep River

Wednesday, Sept. 30 to Tuesday, Nov. 24

No arrests were made.

Wednesday, Nov. 25

• A 52 year-old man of Spring Street was arrested at 11:13 a.m. on a warrant charging him with failure to pay or plead a citation following an investigation into the report of an disturbance.

Thursday, Nov. 26

• A 35 year-old Milford man was arrested at 10:36 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct.

Friday, Nov. 27 to Monday, Dec. 14

No arrests were made.

Tuesday, Dec. 15

No arrests were made.

• A burglary at Fred & George’s Garage, 457 Main Street, was investigated at 6:09 a.m. Several items were stolen, including a 2009 4-door BMW 328 Xi that was parked on the property. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Trooper Trainee Marie Cox at 860-399-2100. All calls will be kept confidential.

Wednesday, Dec. 16 to Saturday, Dec. 26

No arrests were made.

Sunday, Dec. 27

• A 37 year-old man of Merriwold Lane was arrested at 12:21 p.m. on the strength of warrant charging him with failure to appear in the second degree after troopers were dispatched to the Merriwold Lane for a residential alarm.

Monday, Dec. 28 to Tuesday, Dec. 29

No arrests were made.

Chester
